Yes, it works, but evaluating playing conditions and hiding your skills are the most difficult part of being profitable and having longevity. If you learn how to count and memorize all the important strategies, then change your bets and plays exactly by the book, you won’t last 30 minutes. You have to learn how to vary your bets and plays in a way that is not too suspicious but still does not threaten the edge you create through counting.
Card counting works but it’s a real grind. You need a good bankroll. You can still have bad losing streaks even when the deck is in your favor.
Some casinos watch more close for counters than others. The locals casinos generally watch closer than the big strip places unless they are playing a VERY large amount of money. If you go to a big strip casino and keep your bets under $ 100 then you probably won’t draw any heat. This is small change to them and they are not going to bother with you.
cardcounting DOES work. do a google search on “cardcounting + M.I.T” the students at from the medical institute of technology are now banned from all casinos in Las Vegas for counting cards in a group which managed to make hundreds of thousands counting cards, i think theres a movie about it now, im not sure.
remember, counting cards, although not illegal is looked down upon by all casinos. if, somehow they discover you are counting cards, you will be asked to leave and not return.
I counted cards for a while, and really never got far with it, you can maybe catch a few more wins with the count in your favor, but you find out that it doesn’t happen often. You end up sitting there most of the time knowing the count’s pretty crappy. You also have to keep in mind the laws of probability that a favorable count doesn’t mean a guarantee that the cards will play out in your favor when they’re turned over.
